Chapter 4

Moonlight backed up as she saw the empty hollow, filled with nothing but shattered, burning trees. She slowly made her way to the top of the camp, looking down at it. It was destroyed. There was no hope of any cat being alive...was there? Moonlight's grey eyes widened as she saw a branch quiver. "Sunshadow!" she cried, recognizing the brownish pelt of her brother. She was too afraid to go down, but worry for her brother sent her hurling back down into the ruined camp. "M-Moonlight!" came the raspy voice.

Moonlight stumbled forward. "Sunshadow!" she cried. "Are you OK? Y-you're hurt!" The young warrior had been a warrior for quite some time now, and had experienced battles with many other clans, but she had never seen such horrible wounds. "You're not OK!" she said racing forwards. "Here, lean on me, we have to get out of this hollow!"

Her brother's eyes were wide, and he opened his mouth and hissed, "I couldn't save her....."

Chapter 3

Rain poured throughout the gorge that was the DarkClan camp. Warriors, queens, kits, apprentices and all the remaining cats poked their heads out of their dens, eyes wide in fear. "The gorge is flooding!" came a wail from the other side of the clearing, and all of hell broke loose. Cats swarming everywhere, some slipping on the wet rock, and some standing still, wailing in fear. Moonlight and Sunshadow raced out of their dens in the midst of the chaos.
"Sunshadow, there's something I have to tell you," Moonlight said at last after moons of staying silent. "I don't trust this clan and you shouldn't either."
Her brother's eyes widened for a moment as she spoke, but then softened. "I know what you mean," he whispered. "It still seems like we're not welcome. But what do you want to do?"
Moonlight could tell that the tom wasn't really buying her words. She didn't know how, but she could tell. "We have to go," she said. "We'll run away by ourselves from this clan and go back to being rouges."
Sunshadow nodded slowly. "Let's go then," he said, being his listening-to-sister self.
As the two struggled to climb up the side of the gorge that was already packes with cats, Sunshadow noticed something out of the corner of his eye. "Lightpelt!" he screeched, as thunder crashed and lighting nailed down, setting the trees ablaze and sending them tumbling into the camp. He saw the gray she cat that he had come to love, still with fear, eyes wide.
"I have to save her!" he cried, flinging himself back down into the camp.
"SUNSHADOW!!!!!" Moonlight screeched as she watched the brown pelt of her brother disappear into the midst of the rain. Lighting flashed, and when the flashing cleared, all that was left of the clan was a gorge filled with burning trees and dead cats. Moonlight's eyes widened as she thought of the day her parents died. "No...." she whispered with horror. "Not again..."

Chapter 2

"-and by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior names. From this day on, you will be known as Moonlight and you will be known as Sunshadow. May StarClan guide you for the rest of your lives." Moonlight, now a warrior of DarkClan along with her brother, stood proud at the front of the clan, the feeling of uneasiness still buried in the pit of her stomach like a swallowed stone. She looked sideways at her brother, who couldn't look any happier. She sighed as the cats began to clear away and the two began their vigil. Destroy.... A voice rang throughout the hollow, and Moonlight widened her eyes. What was that? None of the other cats seemed to have noticed. Was she the only one who heard it? What did it mean? Destroy? Destroy what? Or who?

Two moons later, the two littermates were full-fledged warriors, the most loyal out of the loyal, fighting battles and catching prey like no one's buisness. Though Moonlight still had her doubts, she decided to ignore them. Nothing bad had happened. Not yet. The clan could actually be their sanctuary for the rest of their lives. But she did not know the horrors that were in store for her...and the rest of the clan.

(Sorry it's a little short! I'll make the next chapter longer :D)

Chapter 1

Two years later, Sun and Moon were padding through the forest in search of prey. "Prey is scarce at this time of year, isn't it, sis?" Sun asked casually, peeking through the undergrowth, his azul eyes sparking in anger when he sensed nothing. "If only mother and father hadn't gone off and died like that...." Moon's eyes snapped. She hated when her brother talked like that. "They protected us!" she protested. "It was either us or them, and they felt like their lives were fulfilled already! They-" the black and white she-cat broke off, tired of telling her brother off everyday for the exact same thing two years in a row. "-whatever. Let's get hunting. Meet you back here in five minutes." The two siblings rushed off in different directions, sniffing the trees.

When the two cats came back, Sun looked like he was bursting with pride. "What's wrong, Sun?" Moon asked, a little scared by her brother's cheerful look. "I've found some other cats!" he exclaimed. "They said they're from DarkClan or something, and they want to take us in!" Moon looked at the brown cat, startled. "Isn't that kind of sudden? I mean, they just met you and-"
"Whatever!" her littermate said. "Let's go to their camp.
Moon sighed as she followed Sun and the cats that had came back with him. She wasn't sure why, but she had a bad feeling, and she felt like it had something to do with the cats padding in front of her....

Prologue

The sun blazed through the forest, scorching everything in it. Soon enough, a tree smoked, and caught fire. Around it, other trees caught fire as well, and between the falling trees, two cats ran. "Hurry up, Sun!" a small black and white cat called behind her to her brother. "What about mother? And father?!" came the reply from behind. The young cat narrowed her eyes and stopped. Her brother skidded into her. "What was that for?" he squeaked angrily. The cat called Moon turned around and her dulled gaze met Sun's bright eyes. "They're dead, Sun," she said through clenched teeth. "Now let's run!" The two littermates ran on, unsure of the path ahead of them, but still they ran.
